Christmas with the Kranks

25 Days of Christmas Movies: Day Nineteen
Christmas with the Kranks (2004)

"We Skip Christmas?!?"

Based on the novelette by John Grisham, this movie is about a couple (Jamie Lee Curtis and Time Allen--now a Christmas movie staple, apparently) who decide to skip Christmas when their daughter is out of the country for the holiday. Skip Christmas?! The horror! The entire town gets in an uproar about it and basically sabotages their plans, but it all ends well with a fantastic last-minute miracle Christmas party.

Soundtrack Highlights: "The Christmas Song" (Raveonettes--so awesome) "The 12 Days of Christmas," "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus", "Frosty the Snowman," "Feliz Navidad," and "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" --A+++ Soundtrack, tons of Christmas songs!

My favorite quotes:
  • Spike Frohmeyer: "You're skipping Christmas? Isn't that against the law?"
  • Blair Krank: "I'm bringing home Enrique!" Luther Krank: "What's a reekay?"
  • Nora Krank: "You forgot the white chocolate!" Luther Krank: "They didn't have any." Nora: "Did you ask Rex?" Luther: "Who's Rex?" Nora: "The butcher." Luther: "As odd as it sounds, I didn't think to ask the butcher about chocolate."
  • Vic Frohmeyer: "NORA KRANK, WE'RE HERE FOR FROSTY"
Rating: 4 snowflakes
